  • Title GS E&C Completes Singapore’s First Integrated Rail Test Centre (SRTC)2025.04.01

GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C) announced the completion of the Singapore Integrated Rail Test Centre (SRTC) — the world’s 10th and Southeast Asia’s first comprehensive rail testing facility.

Constructed on a site area of 540,000 square meters, the SRTC integrates the diverse power supply systems, vehicle standards, and operational technologies of various urban rail lines across Singapore. The facility features three newly built test tracks totaling 16.9 kilometers, allowing durability, performance, interoperability, and top-speed tests to be conducted within a single complex. The project also includes the construction of 10 buildings, such as a main administration block and a central control center.

Once operational, the SRTC will serve as a key facility for testing and verifying new rolling stock before deployment on Singapore’s urban rail network. By identifying and resolving potential operational issues in advance, it will significantly contribute to the safety and reliability of the country’s rail system.

GS E&C, which undertook the project awarded by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA), implemented a range of advanced construction technologies to ensure both safety and quality. To enhance constructability and precision, Precast Concrete (PC) components were fabricated off-site for installation in bridge decks, columns, and exterior walls. Additionally, Building Information Modeling (BIM) was used to create detailed 3D models, enabling the project team to identify and resolve potential clashes before construction, thereby minimizing risks.
As a result, the project achieved an outstanding record of 14 million accident-free man-hours and was successfully completed on schedule and to the highest quality standards.

GS E&C official stated, “The successful completion of this technically demanding project demonstrates our world-class expertise in global railway construction. Building on the success of the Singapore project, GS E&C will continue to enhance the reputation of Korean construction companies in the global market.”
