At GS E&C, our goal is to bring accidents down to zero by having all employees internalize our workplace culture of 'safety first'. To that end, we have defined different levels of our safety culture, and have made progress across different levels. At the Reactive and Dependent levels, we achieved compliance with the basic safety rules. Then, by 2020, at Level 3 Independent, we were able to voluntarily comply with the safety rules through own will and personalized knowledge. Since 2021, the safety culture level of GS E&C was upgraded to Stage 4, the interdependent level, to establish a safety and health management system.

On-Site Safety Activity Positive Model

GS E&C, in order to ingrain site safety culture and prevent accidents, has created an interdependent cooperation model that involves the project manager, construction manager, and safety managers.

  • Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring that Construction / Safety Manager can carry out his/her job properly by instilling a safety mindset, carrying out pre-inspections, and improving working conditions.
  • Construction Superintendents are responsible for thoroughly reviewing the construction plan in addition to checking the construction progress, steps, structure, and safety planning in order to prevent safety issues.
  • Safety Managers are responsible for conducting risk assessment based on analysis of accident cases, review of safety management plan, and support Construction Managers by communicating with workers to perform preventive management role.
  • CM's willingness and problem solving abilities
  • Preplanning by Construction Manager
  • Safety Manager's inspection / advice
