GS E&C is accelerating its expansion in Australia, targeting high-growth infrastructure sectors as part of its long-term global strategy. CEO Yoon Hong Huh recently visited Victoria to look into ongoing infrastructure projects, meet senior state government officials, and engage with consortium partners — demonstrating strong leadership and commitment to the Australian market. Since entering Australia in 2021 through the NEL (North East Link) road project in Melbourne, GS E&C has steadily strengthened its execution capabilities in large-scale infrastructure. In 2024, the company secured the SRL (Suburban Rail Loop) East project, which includes approximately 10km of twin TBM tunnels, 39 cross passages, and major underground station excavation works. These milestone projects highlight GS E&C’s advanced tunneling expertise and ability to deliver complex mega projects in urban environments. Building on this foundation, GS E&C is preparing to expand its portfolio into large-scale power grid infrastructure. As renewable energy capacity rapidly increases across Australia, the need for extensive transmission networks connecting generation sites to cities and industrial areas is becoming critical. GS E&C is actively exploring opportunities in this sector in collaboration with experienced local partners. During the visit, CEO Yoon Hong Huh also met with leading power industry executives and Infrastructure Partnerships Australia (IPA) to gain insights into policy trends and infrastructure development priorities. This aligns with his New Year message emphasizing stronger fundamentals, enhanced future capabilities, and the completion of a sustainable growth system. By successfully delivering ongoing landmark projects while expanding into new infrastructure sectors, GS E&C aims to further solidify its footprint and build a sustainable growth platform in Australia.
